Just like the lotus, we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world. – Unknown
There are so many negative things in our lives that we sometimes forget to focus on the positive or we may not remember how to get back to our happy place.
We let negative feelings get in the way of ourselves truly being happy by holding on to pain, anger, and hurt. Learning to let go of the negative and making space for the positive is the first step to becoming a happier person.
Almost ten years ago, I was that unhappy person.
I was in the Army and suffered a back injury. I was medically discharged and left with a disability that I’ll have to live with for the rest of my life.
I became angry. I wondered why this had to happen to me. I cried a lot and became reserved.
I no longer wanted to be out in the world. It felt like because of that one incident, I’d never have a happy life again.
It took me a while to realize that even though I was hurt physically, I was hurt mentally and spiritually as well. It was more than my body that needed repairing.
I fell into a clinical depression and couldn’t climb my way out.
Physical and mental therapy were offered to me, but I wasn’t openly accepting of it. I knew that no matter what I did, I’d never be the same me.
I lacked motivation and inspiration for life and I allowed negative thoughts and energy to consume me.
It took me years to realize that I was allowing the negative in my life to outweigh the positive. I had no control of what happened to me, but I did have control of how I was going to allow my injury affect my life.
When I finally started focusing on the positive around me, being mindful, and working on my personal spirituality, did I begin my journey to a much happier place.
I started Spiritual Lotus because I know there are others out there like me.
We no longer want the complexity of our lives to consume us. We choose to focus on self reflection, our dreams and motivations, and the simplicity of creating our own happiness on our own terms.
Spiritual Lotus is a community for personal growth, to inspire, give wisdom, practice mindfulness, and learn to love ourselves again.
I chose the lotus flower because it symbolizes self-regeneration, harmony, and enlightenment. It grows out of muddy waters and blossoms into a beautiful flower.
Just like the lotus, I wish for you to overcome what’s holding you back and come out finding peace and thinking more positively, as you embark on your journey to happiness.
